2009 US Lacrosse Academic All-Americans Announced

BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse has announced the names of the players earning a spot on the 2009 Boys’ High School Academic All-America team.  In order to be considered, players must be in senior standing, must be nominated and must meet the minimum academic achievement requirements from their respective US Lacrosse region.  Specific academic criteria may vary from region to region.  Each pre-determined geographic region is allowed one Academic All-American selectee for every 10 varsity teams in the region.  Only varsity coaches that are members of US Lacrosse may vote in …

2009 US Lacrosse All-Americans Announced

BALTIMORE – US Lacrosse is pleased to announce that more than 400 boys’ high school lacrosse players have been named US Lacrosse All-Americans and for the 2009 season.  The process is coordinated by the high school committee of the US Lacrosse Men’s Division Coaches Council.  Area chairpersons for geographic regions designated by the US Lacrosse high school committee coordinated the voting.  Each region is awarded a set number of slots for the team based on the number of high school lacrosse teams in their respective areas.

Bernlohr (WRA ‘11) Named Laxpower Player of the Week

This past weekend held some big moments for a few high school lacrosse teams in the Midwest and thus a few big-time players stepped up and led their teams. A senior All-State attackman proved why he received that honor as he helped lead his team to a Texas state championship. US Lacrosse National Senior Showcase Rosters Announced
BALTIMORE– US Lacrosse has announced the four team rosters for the 2009 National Senior Showcase, to be played June 20 at Bryant University near Providence, Rhode Island. The annual all-star game features outstanding senior boys high school players representing the North, South, East, and West regions of the country. The National Senior Showcase (NSS), sponsored by Warrior Lacrosse, is an annual offering of the US Lacrosse Men’s Division Coaches Council. Laxpower Games of the Week

Midwest Region Games of the Week, May 14-17

Postseason play is abundant in this week’s LaxPower high school lacrosse games of the week in the Midwest. Texas has reached its state semifinals, while Indiana is just getting their playoffs underway. Also, the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association is having their annual championship tournament this weekend in Ohio, and it promises some great games between some of the best teams the Midwest has to offer. Also on tap are a few big late-season clashes in Illinois and Michigan.

There are some great regular-season games in the northern half of the Midwest region, but in Louisiana the postseason is here. In Shreveport, they will crown the first ever Louisiana High School Lacrosse League champion. Winning extends the season and losing only makes the summer come faster.

Some of the warm-weather states in the Midwest are winding down as the playoffs pick up, while in the northern half of the region, teams are fighting for playoff position. The players are responding with breakout performances. Highlighting this week is a Texas goalie who put his team on his back and carried them to victory. Also an Illinois middie and an Ohio attackman played major roles in key wins for their teams.
